Fuente Mágica Barcelona (Magic Fountain)
Fuente Mágica in Barcelona
The magic fountain (Spanish: Fuente Mágica / Catalan: Font Màgica) is an incredible beautiful light show. Originally constructed for the 1929 “Barcelona International Exposition” and has been neglected after. For the 1992 summer Olympics they restored the entire fountain and has ever since been well preserved. Now, you can also get all the way up by escalators.
Light show with music
A perfect symphony of water jets and music is exactly what this magic fountain is. They use different music on every day of the week that it’s playing. (Read schedule further down this article).
I’ve heard themes such as pop music, classical and even a Disney themed show. But I must say that the quality and volume of the music is pretty poor. The best experience to hear the show is right next to the fountain.
Location of the Fuente Mágica Barcelona
The magic fountain of Barcelona is also referred to as “Fuente de Montjuic” Or “Fuente de Plaça d’Espanya” because that’s exactly where this is located.

How to get there by public transport
By train or metro you have to get yourself to station Plaça d’Espanya.
Train (Line L8 color pink)
Metro (Line L1 color red or L3 color green)
By bus (Line 55) you can go to stop MNAC (Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya). That’s really convenient because you can start from the top of the Montjuic Hill.
More info about Bus line 55 you find here.
